Crowdfunding you business is the process where we “harness internet technologies to bring those with money and those who need it closer together and aggregate numerous small investments to meet large funding needs” (nesta.org.uk-November 2014).
This means that with crowdfunding you are not dependent on one set of lending criteria, and one decision as you would with a bank. You are asking loads of people with diverse criteria, each to take a much smaller decision to lend you a small amount of money. Some will say no and some yes, but provided you get enough people willing to lend to you at an acceptable rate you will have a deal.
And to get that deal, you will have the opportunity on the Go2 Business Loans site to set out your stall to the best of your ability, so you can include (obviously) financial information, details of contracts on hand and under negotiation, the reasons why you need the funding and how you are going to repay; but also pictures and videos of your products and business operations.
Provided you are a company or LLP and have a 2 year track record you can apply for a loan at Go2businessloans.co.uk of between £10,000 and £250,000 over 1 to 5 year terms. If you are not sure how long you want the loan for, it is sensible to apply for the longer period because you can repay your loan early without penalty.
Once you have put your loan request on the Go2businessloans website, the loan can be seen by our investors who can bid to lend to you stating the amount they want to invest and the interest rate they want. The lending process is a reverse auction; lenders bid down the interest rate at which they want to lend to ensure that you get the best rate available. The auction takes 2 weeks. It is then your choice as to whether you accept the deal that’s on offer.
Once you have accepted, Go2 Business Loans organises the loan agreements and security documentation (typically a personal guarantee, and/or a charge over an asset) for your signature. Once signed up you will receive the cash less Go2 Business Loans’ fees of 2-5% of the loan amount. Once you have agreed the terms the interest rate is set for the term of the loan, and is calculated as a composite of all the bids from your investors. Repayments are fixed monthly amounts which will come direct from your bank account to Go2 Business Loans who distribute the funds to the investors in your company.
This is peer to peer lending and your investment is at risk. We encourage investors to diversify their portfolio and to review all investments to ensure that they meet with their own investment criteria.
